John McCain is pulling out of Michigan, according to two Republicans, a stunning move a month away from Election Day that indicates the difficulty Republicans are having in finding blue states to put in play. Biden could be helping Obama in PA. Mitt might have helped McCain with Michigan, while also keeping the conservatives, too. Second guessing is going to drive the GOP mad. Make this an open thread. W

What would the bailout plan do to mortgage-rate trends? One of the goals of this plan is to calm the credit markets and narrow the "spread"--or difference--between mortgage rates and rates on risk-free treasuries.
